PLATE FINAL – GARRY SPENCE VS BILLY MYCOCK

Shetland Juniors coach and Island Games coach Billy Mycock will take on experienced campaigner Garry Spence, who is playing in 2 finals tonight. Both had strong showings in their group to finish in 3rd place and will battle it out for the Plate trophy. Billy who has competed for the Main Title before will go into this game as favourite but Garry is no slouch and has been playing some solid squash at the moment after a short injury break and has the ability to take on Billy and win. Expect a good quality match and plenty of tactical play.

CONSOLATION MATCH - IGOR GAZDA vs IAN SMITH
Unfortunately due to injuries there was no one from the other group to play against Igor for their final position, but depending on who wins the Semi-final of the Veterans, the loser will step in to take on Igor in a consolation match. Igor who is a member of the squad training for the Island Games will have the advantage of youth and speed on his side over his veteran opponent, or will the veteran be able to out think the younger player and control the match and use their years of experience to get the win.

VETERAN MENS FINAL - GARRY SPENCE vs GORDON MCFARLANE
Garry goes into his 2nd final of the day as favourite over whoever wins the showdown semi-final on Thursday between Ian and Gordon. Garry had 3-0 wins over both in the group stage for earning the right to play in the final for the trophy. However, will his efforts against Billy in the Plate take too much out of Garry earlier in the evening, and allow one of the other two to get revenge for the group stage loss.

3rd / 4th PLAY OFF – DAVID SUTHERLAND vs KEVIN PRIEST.
Perhaps the most evenly matched pair playing this evening will compete to secure the 3rd podium place. Kevin has had the Upper hand over the Jarl in the past few matches but that doesn’t count for anything on the day, and will come down to whoever manages to control the centre and keep the mistakes away. Left Hander Kevin leads the Head to Head 5-3. Don’t be surprised if those goes to the 5th Set decider.

MENS FINAL – RAMSAY HOGG vs STUART COPLAND
This will be a repeat of the previous 2 finals, with Ramsay securing the title with a 3-0 and 3-1 victory in those matches the previous 2 years. Top seed Ramsay, will be looking to secure his 11th straight title but will be up against his hardest challenge to date, as an ever improving Stuart looks to back up his good form in the league and win his maiden title. Ramsay leads the Head to head this season in the league 5-2, but Stuart has won 2 out of the last 3 which indicates this Final is truly in the balance and could go to the wire!
