                              October 2013 saw Shetland's
                              1st PAR 2 Competition

Cayman Player Janet Sairsingh flying visit to the Isles this weekend where she took part in Shetlands first ever Par 2 competition as part of the world squash day.

This is a much faster format where divisions of 4 battle it out in a round robin format where all their matches are played within an hour period. After some fast and furious play in Division B Thomas Marshall triumphed with some composed play. After eventually beating regular interclub rival Ian Smith for the first time. While Paul Hargreaves and Craig Smith battled it out for 3rd place after both causing momentary upsets in their first matches against the finalists. Paul eventually won through after winning 5 points in a row, saving 3 match points, to bring the game to a sudden death rally which he won to take the match.

Division A contained Janet and three of the number one seeded rivals from the last interclub Joan Smith, Josie Wishart & Billy Mycock. Joan was on top form this time and won through to the final against Billy in straight sets and won the division without dropping a game thanks to some fine cross court driving and attacking play. Janet was unable to complete all her three matches as she was still recovering from a knee operation but she enjoyed playing on the Shetland courts. Josie fought well this time but was unable to repeat his interclub success this time pushing Billy to clear of 2 in the final game but was unable to win this time.
